Image AACE was established in 1991. As the organisation name suggests, the mission of the organisation is focused on promoting international and cultural understanding through exchange on educational platforms.

Initially placing young Australians to instruct the English Language across Japan, AACE expanded its operations in 1994 by joining Monash International - the then newly created international arm of Monash University in working together to establish and develop the Monash Academy program(MAP). This program led to the development of the largest Homestay program in Australia which served not only the MAP program but International students studying at Monash University.

Since their establishment, the MAP program, Homestay program, and the language instructor recruitment programs have facilitated thousands upon thousands of opportunities for young Australians and Asians in education-based exchanges.

In 2006, Monash University acquired the management and business rights to the Homestay and Academy programs.
